Ingredient Spotlight: Olive Squalane

Ever wondered what olive squalane is and why it’s become such a popular ingredient in skincare?
Olive squalane is an amazing, natural alternative to the silicones that you can usually find in commercial serums and has many benefits including softening the skin, improving elasticity, boosting cell regeneration and reducing the signs of ageing. It’s non-vegan equivalent, squalene (with an e) is naturally produced by your skin until your mid 20s, helping to protect and moisturise it. Olive squalane, the vegan version produced from olive oil, has a very similar structure to the natural squalene that is produced by your skin. So when the levels of squalene in your skin start to fall, usually around the mid 20es, using olive squalane is a great way to keep up your skin’s youthful appearance.

We love using olive squalane in our facial oil formulas because it doesn't feel oily but leaves the skin feeling smooth as it penetrates into the skin quickly and absorbs deeply to help fight dryness. This makes it perfect for use even on oily / combination skin.

“If you have acne-prone or oily skin, using the wrong skin care products can trigger a breakout or worsen blemishes. Squalane, however, is safe for all skin types.

It’s an excellent alternative if other oils are too heavy or greasy for your skin. Despite being an oil, it’s lightweight and noncomedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores.

It does penetrate pores and improve skin at the cellular level, but it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.” -
