ABOUT

Welcome to Fais. We specialise in handcrafted vegan skincare, home fragrances, and aromatherapy workshops. At our core, we believe in the transformative power of aromatherapy and simple self-care routines to nurture healthy skin, promote a calmer mind, and create a happy home environment. We call it "useful luxury" — because luxury should be both indulgent and practical. Committed to sustainability, we're dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint by minimising packaging waste and selecting ingredients and practices that are kinder to our planet. We have won several skincare awards including the Free From Skincare Award and The Green Parent Natural Beauty Award. We have been featured in The Independent, The Times on Sunday and The Daily Express. Built and run by our founder Marina, we are proudly part of the Buy Women Built movement.

A note from our Founder Marina

Growing up I was always passionate about plants and botanics. My grandma had a wonderful garden where I spent many happy summers exploring the multitude of plant species. Having spent my childhood Germany, upon reflection, it made me very passionate about the environment. This transpires through the creation of my products, as I always consider the impact on our planet and continue to find ways to support this. Previously, I had worked in a high pressured advertising job in the city which made me realise that I needed to take more care of myself in order to make myself happy. In my day job as an advertising art director, I often worked with clients within the beauty and healthcare sector, which made me realise that there were only only a handful of brands that offered a simple, minimal but indulgent skincare and home fragrances collection. So I started to look for ways of how to create skincare and mindful relaxation routines I would want to use myself.

I aim to provide a minimal skincare and self-care approach harnessing the power of plant ingredients. It is ideal for those who do not want to compromise on their self-care experience and prefer multitasking ingredients and products.

Manufacturing

All of formulas are handcrafted in compliance with the good manufacturing practice in our workshop. All our skincare formulas are certified and challenge tested in compliance with the UK / EU Cosmetics Regulation. We keep our production in house and offer our products via drop ship method which means that all deliveries are dispatched straight from our workshop in London, making the delivery process more sustainable and reducing CO2 emissions. Less back and forth = less carbon footprint = a happier planet.

Ingredients

All of our ingredients are vegan and cruelty free. We try to use the same ingredients across various formulas which enables us to leave less carbon footprint when ordering them in bulk. Our star skincare ingredient watermelon seed oil is a great sustainable ingredient. Usually a by-product of watermelon consumption, it’s often overlooked. But for us, it makes for a great base oil because it’s full of antioxidants and light enough to be used on all skin types, even oily/combination skin. We harness the power of essential oils and only use high quality oils from our trusted suppliers.

Packaging

We use glass and aluminium where possible. We currently offer all of our face care products with an alternative aluminium closure in an attempt to encourage our customers to opt for aluminium closures instead of eg plastic pumps. Aluminium is easily recyclable and a great replacement for plastic that pollutes the world’s seas. It can be recycled indefinitely and without losing quality in the process. Most plastics, in contrast, are “downcycled,” their quality degrading each time they’re recycled. The Aluminum Association, an industry group, says that almost 75 percent of all the aluminum ever produced to date is still in use today. On the other hand, only 9 percent of all plastics ever made have been recycled, according to a study published in the journal Science Advances in 2017. We use as less outer packaging as possible and if we do, we use reusable bags and recycled paper which is also our go-to for all of our marketing collateral.
