How to prime your Skin naturally

Ever noticed how every wrinkle or pimple is clearly visible on the actor’s skin when you watch your favourite show in HDTV? Most likely, her/his makeup primer didn’t quite do its job in hydrating the skin whilst keeping the foundation in place.

While we all know primers, they are a little bit of an enigma to most of us. They’re that annoying ‘one step too much’ after the moisturising and before the foundation application, and a little too expensive most of the time too.

Well, a new theory says that you might not need to use both moisturiser and primer. In an interview with E! Online, the green beauty expert Katey Denno, makeup artist to Cara Delevingne,  recommends prepping the skin for coverage with a facial oil – even if you have oily skin – since “it absorbs into skin more thoroughly than a moisturiser does, which allows foundation to adhere better to skin.”

She also remarks that ‘primers in particular aren’t always skin-compatible because of the concoctions used to give off the illusion of smoother skin. “[Primers] typically contain a number of silicones to make them form a barrier on the skin to enable foundation to sit atop of pores and make skin appear more smooth, but can, with regular use overtime, suffocate skin, and lead to breakouts,” so Katey Denno.

We think that she’s absolutely right! We love using a facial oil in the morning before putting on makeup. It hydrates and penetrates deeply into skin, so no chance for those ugly makeup creases. We formulated all of our facial oils to be light weight using dry oils such as the watermelon, jojoba and lightly textured almond seed oil. In addition, they are enriched with vegan squalane which quickly and efficiently absorbs into skin without leaving an oily residue, leaving your skin with a healthy glow. You can also mix 1-2 drops of facial oil in with your usual oil based foundation for a smoother application and added hydration.
